2-String Kite

What it is

A digit with two places in a row and two in a column, linked through a box, removes the digit where the loose ends meet.

How to spot it

Find a digit with exactly two candidates in a row and exactly two in a column, where one end of each lies in the same box. One of the two other ends must be the digit.

Example

1234567891234567892528232724
  • Basis
  • Removed / placed
In row 1, 2 fits only in r1c2 and r1c6; in column 1 only in r3c1 and r8c1. r1c2 and r3c1 share box 1, so they can't both be 2 – which means r1c6 or r8c1 is 2. So 2 is removed from r8c6.
